Pussalla Agri Ventures (Pvt) Ltd has achieved an important milestone in its transition to certified organic agriculture, receiving EU Organic and USDA Organic certifications for its premium Ceylon Cinnamon products.
The certifications were formally presented at Control Union Sri Lanka on 11 June 2026, marking an important step in Pussalla Agri Ventures’ plans to expand its presence in international markets.
The achievement follows several years of structured work towards organic cinnamon cultivation. During this period, Pussalla developed an integrated approach covering cultivation, processing and value addition, with its cinnamon grown on its own estates under organic agricultural practices.
The EU Organic and USDA Organic certifications recognise compliance with requirements governing organic production, including restrictions on prohibited synthetic chemicals, traceability and environmental practices. They add to Pussalla Agri Ventures’ existing certifications for Sri Lanka Good Agricultural Practices (SL-GAP), Food Good Manufacturing Practices (Food GMP) and Cosmetic Good Manufacturing Practices (Cosmetic GMP).
A Step Towards International Markets
For Pussalla Agri Ventures, the certifications create an opportunity to pursue markets where recognised organic certification is an important part of sourcing requirements. In particular, the company is looking towards expanding access to premium markets in Europe and the United States.
The company's integrated model also gives it oversight across the cinnamon supply chain. Its organic cinnamon is sourced from its own cultivated estates, allowing cultivation, harvesting, processing and packing to be managed within the company's operations. This supports traceability and quality control throughout the process.
The certified range includes premium-grade Ceylon Cinnamon quills, powder and value-added cinnamon products, produced from plantations managed under the company's organic farming system.
The EU and USDA certifications represent more than an additional set of standards for Pussalla Agri Ventures. They mark the next stage in a longer transition towards certified organic production and strengthen the company's ability to bring Sri Lankan Ceylon Cinnamon to international buyers seeking certified organic products.
