Pussalla Agri Ventures (Pvt) Ltd has been recognised at the Sri Lankan Sustainability Awards 2026, receiving the Sustainable Agriculture Infrastructure Award for its approach to sustainable agriculture and responsible organic cinnamon production.
Organised by the Ceylon Institute of Builders (CIOB), the Sri Lankan Sustainability Awards recognise organisations that integrate sustainable practices into their operations while contributing towards the country's broader sustainable development goals.
For Pussalla Agri Ventures, the recognition reflects an integrated approach that extends across the agricultural value chain. From the cultivation and harvesting of cinnamon to processing, value addition and packaging, the company maintains involvement across multiple stages of production. This integrated model also supports product traceability and consistent quality.
Sustainability is incorporated into the way the cinnamon is cultivated and processed. Pussalla follows agricultural practices focused on protecting soil, conserving biodiversity and using resources responsibly, while avoiding prohibited synthetic chemicals. These practices form part of its approach to responsible organic cinnamon production.
The company's commitment to recognised standards is further reflected in its certifications, including EU Organic, USDA Organic, Sri Lanka Good Agricultural Practices (SL-GAP), Food Good Manufacturing Practices (Food GMP) and Cosmetic Good Manufacturing Practices (Cosmetic GMP).
Commenting on the recognition, Chairman of Pussalla Agri Ventures, Philip J. Wewita, said the award reflects the company's long-standing commitment to sustainable agriculture and responsible business practices.
“Sustainability is not simply a certification or a project for us; it is embedded throughout our operations, from cultivation to the final product.”
The award provides recognition for an approach in which sustainability is considered across the agricultural and production process, from the care of the land through to the development of finished products.
